Truth Healing and Reconciliation

LUF meets on Robinson-Superior 1850 Treaty territory, traditional lands of people of the Fort William First Nation. We acknowledge that we are all treaty people. After hosting an eight week series of workshops based on the Truth, Healing, and Reconciliation Reflection Guides, we have committed to on-going work in this area.

The Canadian Unitarian Council and the UU Ministers of Canada presented an Expression of Reconciliation to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission on March 29, 2014 in Edmonton, Alberta. The Expression conveys CUC and UUMOC support for the path of reconciliation between Canadian Aboriginal and Non – Aboriginal people. Rev. Meg Roberts, representative of the Unitarian Universalist Ministers of Canada, and Gary Groot, President of the Canadian Unitarian Council Board of Trustees, made the Presentation at the Final Event of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. A congregational version of the Expression of Reconciliation was presented at LUF in an expression of solidarity.
