SOCIAL ACTION: MOVE-IN KITS

The board of the LUF has endorsed a local social action initiative and needs your help. For the past four years, LUF member, Robin Cooper has been assisting people with start-up essentials as they transition from homeless to housed. These “Move-In kits” include several small basics that are a lot for someone on a fixed income to afford otherwise. Many items are purchased second-hand, while others are purchased new. Robin has been receiving requests (referrals) from Shelter House, The Health Unit’s Street Nursing program, and AlphaCourt.
Your help is needed:
- To obtain and donate such items as: bed sheets, pillows, pots, pans, dishes, utensils, towels, shower curtains, toiletries, and a few pantry staples
- Assistance in storing kits once packaged.
Future plans include a packing event in September where members will be invited to join together to make up additional kits. Robin Cooper is available to answer any questions. Let her know how you are able to assist: robincooper1971@gmail.com.
